hi, I'm ali, welcome to my internet corner
this will be a slightly technical and longer version of my intro that you just read on the home page.

I enjoy writing code and solving problems very much. I am interested in distributed systems, software infrastructure, networking, database internals, compilers, interpreters, and hard optimization problems.

Thanks to my mom for getting me an intel pentium 4 in 2010, I became someone who tinkered, broke things, corrupted windows registry, discovered the world of virtual machines, gpus, torrents, overclocking, constantly tried to find workarounds so I can run games on that machine. I could only play so many games but I ended up learning a lot of computers and internet as a result.

Years later, I wrote my first line of code in C in an academic setting.

I learnt more about computer architecture, operating systems, networking and security @ nyu. some of these classes worked as a gateway drug and I ended up spending a lot of time learning about the above topics outside of classes as well. I work on side projects whenever I get a chance.

I won some hackathons while at nyu and one after nyu. These hackathons were before v0, lovable, cursor blew up so all of the code is written by humans and not ai, during the 24-48 hours period.

I love reading technical blogs and research papers related to software and also have a big list that I need to go through. I also love maths+stats and financial markets, and spend a lot of time learning about these things and talking about it with my friends.

As a result of me being chronically online and some of my friends working at some big startups of nyc & sf, I find myself discussing nyc & sf startup culture a lot as well.

If you find anything mentioned above interesting, feel free to reach out to me to talk in person or message me on twitter.
